I am widely known for my gourmet catering company, Edible Art Cafe, which I started in the late ’90s and was at the time an innovative preparation and presentation of soul food.
I have been a resident of Atlanta for over 30 years so this is home. During this time, I have spent a lot of time in the outer regions or rural areas of the South. I have dined at the home of my share of ‘MaDears’ and ‘Aunties’ and learned life lessons as well as down-home recipes. They have helped me to connect with the South and the feeling of hospitality that the South brings. My natural talent along with my formal training coupled with my passion have helped me to take those ladies’ recipes and present them in a manner that’s unexpected, bringing beauty to what is considered peasant or simple food.
My concept of soul food is more than being from the south. I have traveled internationally and had the opportunity to cook and learn from local cooks and chefs. My soul food is about the "soul" that is put into food no matter what part of the world you come from.
When I opened Twisted Soul Kitchen and Bar in Decatur, GA in 2015, I had the opportunity to expand on my culinary concepts. I was something new and different for the Decatur audience.
I hope that when you experience my cooking that you realize that spices and taste is what sets me apart from the others.
Spices and herbs are my life! Without them... I have no Soul.
If the plate is my canvas then I am the Nick Cave of soul food.
Cooking is my passion and plan on doing it for a very very very long time. I am a Culinary Artist!
On a personal note, as much as I enjoy cooking I enjoy spending time with my wife, Lorraine and my daughter Kursten. Both of them are intimately involved in the business. More importantly, when we are not creating unique menu items, Lorraine has us tasting her Moonshine concoutions.
